The Panama-flagged Red Duchess was arrested in Rotterdam, with the crew not paid their full wages owed and with no funds to get home. After the ITF said it would fund the repatriation of crew members, to prevent them being stranded on board the ship in deteriorating winter conditions, the Panama Maritime Authority stepped in and agreed to pay for the repatriation.
ITF inspector Aswin Noordrmeer said: "This has been a drawn out affair but the ITF in the Netherlands is delighted to have been able to help this abandoned crew get back to their homes and families."
