Do you want to be part of something amazing?

03 Jul 2014

The ITF is calling all interested affiliates with specific skills, expertise or experience to get involved in running fringe events at the ITF congress in Sofia next August.

For the first time ever, the ITF is creating space and time for affiliates to run independent sessions during congress. “We know we have a lot of affiliates with a wealth of experience in specific areas, which other members would like to hear about” explains ITF acting general secretary Steve Cotton. “We are planning our most participatory congress ever – and this is a great opportunity for affiliates to contribute directly to the global ITF family.”

Affiliates should show interest by getting in touch with the Fringe team – fringe@itf.org.uk - explaining a little more about the session they’d like to run. Cotton says: “Unions can get directly involved in fringe in a number of ways this year. If your union has knowledge and expertise which it would like to share with others, now’s your chance – whether that’s sharing campaign strategies, social media tips, or your experience of organising in countries in conflict. If your union has financial resources it could put towards sponsoring an event, whether in full or in part, we want to hear from you. Finally, we want to see as many of you as possible at fringe events – so watch this space for more information about what’s happening when.”

Spaces to run events are limited, so if your union would be interested in running an event then the fringe team encourages you to apply as soon as possible. The deadline for expressions of interest is 29 November – so get your request in today!
